The NNDMC has identified Hakha in Chin as one of the five most flood-affected townships in the country, with an estimated 28,261 million MMK of direct economic losses.

Chin is one of most affected and hardest to reach areas impacted by the flood. Physical access in Chin is particularly challenging, due to landslides and flooded areas. Access is possible but limited to small vehicles, which necessitate reloading in Kale (Sagaing Region). Geologists are currently in Chin State to assess the feasibility of relocating the capital, Hakha, to a safer location due to the massive damage and landslide risk there.

In Paletwa Township (2nd most flood affected township in Chin State, after Hakha), access to affected areas has been limited due to the remoteness and impact on infrastructure of flooding. IRC has reports of 907 households composing of 4,008 people across 20 villages with a total population of 16,681 have been severely affected by the flood. Shelter, infrastructure, food, safe water and access to health care are critical needs identified for displaced communities in Paletwa. Road access is only possible from the Rakhine State.
